Justis is the inspiration and catalyst for Justis Foods. In 2009, age 6, Justis was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. He was stable on medication until 2016 when he experienced a severe flare-up that took months to get under control. We (his parents) alongside Justis, under the supervision of his Gastroenterologist, decided to try an alternative to traditional medicine, the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. After 6 months on the diet Justis stopped all medication and has been thriving. Justis is now a high school student, a top runner on his cross country and track team, feeling strong, healthy, and confident.

As Justis began his new diet we quickly realized how few options there are to purchase baked goods and snacks for the SCD. We realized how important it is, in our fast paced world, to have grab-n-go food options. All these snack foods became known in our household as "Justis Food". Hence, the birth of our family owned company Justis Foods!
